What is the International Legal Services Advisory Council?

ILSAC is a high level consultative forum established to:

i. advise the Attorney-General and the Australian Government on enhancing the international presence and improving the international performance of Australia’s legal and related services

ii. monitor and review domestic and international developments on legal and related services

iii. conduct relevant research, and

iv. undertake and progress initiatives at both the domestic and international levels that are consistent with ILSAC’s mission and objectives.

ILSAC’s activities are focussed on Australia’s international trade in legal and related services and are progressed through four specific areas of interest.  These four key areas are:

i. globalisation of legal practice

ii. international legal cooperation

iii. international legal education and training, and

iv. international commercial dispute resolution.

In the context of the four key areas of interest, the Council aims to:
